Presence/Permanence
Presence/Permanence
Charcoal, Plaster, Human hair, Board, Polyester, Clay, Beeswax, Water
Silent human traces – 1. hair and fingerprints, and 2. Graffiti
Indexical trace made symbolic
Creating history
Historical influence – I enjoy the unknown of the prehistoric and medieval (especially the common people)
Combat in some way assumed/presumed knowledge. Perhaps attempt to bridge a gap (we think we are so very different from our ancestors and each other)
Materiality and physical contact with art
This focus comes from my own experiences.
1. Autism causes an unstable grasp of the present self and a preference for something in the past, plus constant misinterpretation by neurotypical people.
2. I have Contamination OCD, meaning I am constantly aware of what I have touched, and it stays with me psychologically.
3. I am conscious that I will end my family lineage- what is my trace?
