Hair Wall
Hair Wall
An exploration of indexical trace.
Human hair from my mother and my myself is trapped, frozen in time behind a layer of plaster. This visually disguised the hair which has to be touched, discolouring the plaster, in order to be identified.
This piece was kept in the studio space and allowed to be made dirty and used by studio-mates as a surface for protecting desks or the floor from messy work. In this way, this piece collects the indexical trace of time, touch and presence.
